PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALTH: IT’S BLADDER HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

November marks Bladder Health Awareness Month, and at Michigan Institute of Urology, we want to shine a light on an organ that is extremely important to your overall well-being—your bladder.
Far too many people needlessly suffer in silence, believing that bladder issues like urgency, frequency, or leakage are just a normal part of aging. That is simply not true. We want to stress that you should never ignore bladder issues or feel embarrassed to talk about them. These conditions are incredibly common, affect millions of Americans, and are highly treatable.
When to Seek Immediate Help
While many symptoms are manageable for a while, there is one warning sign that should never be ignored: Blood in your urine (hematuria) is never normal and should be looked at by a specialist. While it can be caused by a minor issue like a urinary tract infection (UTI) or a kidney stone, it can also be a symptom of a more serious condition like bladder cancer. Early diagnosis is key.
Take Control of Your Health
Bladder issues, including overactive bladder (OAB) and incontinence, are real medical conditions with real treatment options. Our urology experts at MIU specialize in diagnosing and treating all aspects of urinary health.
This month, commit to putting your health first. If you are struggling with any urinary symptoms, don’t wait another day feeling uncomfortable or anxious. Help is available.
Not sure if you have an overactive bladder? Take our OAB symptom quiz.
Or, read our latest blog post on treatments for frequent urination.
